The Portuguese superstar had been hoping to add another trophy to his collection in the Kings Cup of Champions final. Said clash with Al-Hilal went the distance, following a 1-1 draw at the end of 120 minutes, with a test of nerves from 12 yards required in order to determine a winner.

Ronaldo converted his spot-kick in the shootout, but Ali Alhassan and Meshari Al-Nemer both missed as Al-Nassr slipped to an agonising 5-4 defeat. CR7 was unable to contain his disappointment at the end of an absorbing contest, with the all-time great seen crying in the dugout.
WHAT GEORGINA SAID
Ronaldo’s family shared that pain, with Georgina and his kids among those in attendance. They had been willing Al-Nassr on, with replica shirts being donned, but it was not to be. Georgina has since posted on Instagram: “A penalty away from winning the King’s cup. Congratulations @alnassr for the match.”
WHAT NEXT FOR RONALDO?
While another domestic campaign ended on a low note for Ronaldo – despite hitting 50 goals across all competitions – he is about to turn his attention to international matters at Euro 2024. He will also be back for more at Al-Nassr next season, with there still 12 months left to run on his record-breaking contract.
