West Ham United boss David Moyes is refusing to waste money during the transfer window and is set to only welcome late additions if they will improve the squad, according to Evening Standard journalist Jack Rosser.
Moyes has made no secret of the fact he wants to bolster his options after guiding the Hammers into this season’s Europa League thanks to registering a club record Premier League points tally last term.
However, the east Londoners have been frustrated in the transfer market and welcomed just two new faces. Alphonse Areola has joined on a season-long loan deal, which has the view to being made permanent, from Paris Saint-Germain and Kurt Zouma has completed a big-money switch from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Hammers announced on Tuesday morning that they’d completed the signing of Croatia international attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic having previously agreed a £25.7million fee with CSKA Moscow.
West Ham are also thought to be chasing a striker as Michail Antonio is the only senior frontman at the club, but Rosser insists Moyes will not be rushed into doing business despite the deadline looming.
He told The Transfer Tavern: “Moyes wants bang for his buck. He burnt his fingers the first time he was there in signing Jordan Hugill from Preston. They obviously sold him to Norwich and he wants to get it right, basically.
“His message throughout has been you can get a body and fill a place in the squad but if it’s going to be someone who isn’t going to have an impact, then there’s no point.”
