Steve Madeley has reported that West Bromwich Albion veteran Chris Brunt’s move to Stoke City is “almost done”, on The Athletic Transfer Deadline Day Blog.
The Northern Ireland international has been with the Baggies since moving from Sheffield Wednesday in 2007, but his partnership with them could be coming to an end.
That is because the 35-year-old is keen to join relegation-battlers Stoke, in order to secure more game time for himself than he has been getting at the Hawthorns this term.

He is still yet to start a single Championship game this campaign, making five substitute appearances which total at 38 minutes on the pitch, while he has started three games across the domestic cups.
With that lack of game time in mind, it is understandable that someone approaching the end of their career would want to pursue more minutes on the pitch.

That won’t soften the sentimental blow for West Brom though, as the transfer will put an end to Brunt’s stay at the Hawthorns, which has seen him make a whopping 418 appearances, amassing 48 goals and 89 assists.
