The Red Dragons are understood to be in advanced talks to land the 28-year-old ahead of Thursday night's transfer deadline and it is believed a deal would eclipse the £300,000 ($380,000) the club paid to AFC Wimbledon for Ollie Pope during the 2023 January window.

If Wrexham indeed land Lindsay, the deal will have some familiar hallmarks. Since the arrival of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney the club have continually looked up the league pyramid and convinced players at higher levels to join the ambitious project. James McClean, George Evans and Steven Fletcher all dropped down to join the Red Dragons in League Two this season. And the strategy could even be seen as far back as the summer of 2021, when Paul Mullin was famously charmed into to dropping down to the Conference after firing Cambridge United to promotion to League One.

Before the era the club's record arrival had been that of goalkeeper Andy Marriott from Nottingham Forest all the way back in 1994.
